And yet, there are prominent Democrats (we all know who they are) who continue to insist that invading Iraq was the right thing to do. Are they nuts? They can't possibly believe what they're saying. More likely, they just can't bring themselves to admit that they made a mistake when they voted in favor of the Iraq war resolution. And they want to run for President! What sort of qualities do people look for when they choose a President? Don't they look for courage? And doesn't it take courage to admit to a mistake?
The DLC would have us believe that the grassroots activists who opposed the war are the ones that are out of touch with the voters. Well, the DLC has it exactly backwards.
So, in the interest of ending this rift within the party, I call on Senator Clinton, Senator Biden, Senator Kerry, Senator Bayh, and Senator Lieberman to admit that, based on what we now know, the decision to invade and occupy Iraq was the wrong choice. Do it now and get it over with.
After all, we really do stand for something, don't we?
